4) The chapters of the nursing home really changed how I now think of my elders. Usually, the situation in a care home is very different to what Rosemary and Jacob were like. The elder’s may sometimes get neglected by their attending nurses and only left with drugs to aid them. Rosemary treats Jacob as a friend, giving him apple because she knows how much he loves apples. I would like to think I treat all older peple with respect, just like any other person.
5) Jacob becomes very upset with Mr. McGuinty because he knows from his past experience, how hard it is to carry water for elephants. Elephants need large amounts of water to drink and to wash their already big body. The older Jacob releases a lot of his anger, whereas younger Jacob holds his feelings back.
6) ”Water for Elephants” is a story of survival because it tells the tale of a young man whose parents passed away in a car accident. From this point onwards, Jacob’s life had turned upside down: no money to live off of, no house, and no job. The story is also a love story based on a boy who is in love with a woman whom he met in his darkest days. It shows the story of making something out of nothing; turn all misfortune into something worth living in.
7) In “Water for Elephants” Camel becomes paralyzed, and walter loses his dog for a little while. The story would not have been climatic without a tragedy.
