“Grasping the text in their town” is step number one of the interpretative journey. In order to effectively do this, one must go to lengths to understand what the text meant to the biblical audience. One must look at the grammar and the writing style and analyze it to fully grasp the concept. One should end this step
A theological principle must reflect the biblical text. The principle must also be timeless and not tied specifically to an event or culture. It should be effective to all situations anywhere in time. The theological principle must also be relevant to other parts of the Bible. The theological principle is invalid if it goes against other scriptural teachings.
