Abstract
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality test designed to help a person in identifying some important personal inclinations. The purpose of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is to make the theory of psychological types described by C.G. Jung understandable and useful in individual’s lives. The core of the theory is that most apparently random difference in the behavior is essentially logical and constant. This is due to simple differences in the ways individuals desire to use their insight and judgment.
My results from the test show that I am EIFJ type. Characteristics of this type are “warm, empathetic, responsive, and responsible” (CPP. Inc). Additionally this type says that I am extremely accustomed to the emotions, needs, and motivations of others. One good thing about having this personality type is that I see potential in everyone and want to help others fulfill their potential. This type also has the will to “act as catalysts for individual and group growth” (CPP. Inc). My personality type is accurate and beneficial to my standards of living.
The test is extremely helpful because it helps my group and I get a general idea of the type of person we are. This is helpful because we can see what we can or cannot say to one another. For instance, my test explains that I am responsive to praise and criticism. If one of my group members read this, they would understand that I accept correction if they see that I made an error or could improve on something.
The test helps me because understand my group members because it could define their work ethics. It portrays who likes work done fast, efficient, and complete. I know which of my group would likely have their work done on time. I think this type is highly beneficial for developing a general idea of a person. It would be great to know if I have team members who are sociable, facilitate others in a group, and provide inspiring leadership.
My personality results tell me that it is so important that other people like them. This is true. I always find myself trying to impress others or think about what they want before what I want. “EIFJs are outgoing, friendly, and genuinely concerned about the welfare of others and they try to handle things with regard for other people's feelings” (Vick). This is also true of me. I talked to my team with respect and I wanted to let them know that they should never hesitate to contact me if there is a problem. They tend to be rather idealistic and use their personal values to rule their lives. I found some weaknesses of EIFJs, saying that they “thrive on recognition and appreciation and it is important to them that they feel they are liked” (Vick). This is true to me because when I do something good, I would like to receive credit or appreciation. This would not be a good thing to do when working with my team because they might start to think of me as self-important.
My group’s personalities are more similar than different. Out of all four of us I am the only extrovert and Tasha shares the only personality for sensing. I think this is best, rather than a variety because that could create problems. Leola, Christen, and I are similar because we base our decisions on our principle and values.
The results from each of our tests say that we are warmhearted, conscientious, and cooperative. Leola, Tasha, and Christen test suggest that they “want harmony in their environment, work with determination to establish it” (CPP. Inc). Tasha and I are similar because we both are giving people. This could help in terms of the project because we would not be too hard on our group members and would help them on their part if they needed it. Christen and I have
