MOAD Exercise
You are working as a MOAD at the Infectious Diseases Department at Brampton Civic Hospital. The staff includes: 5 MOADs, 6 Nurses, 2 Nurse Coordinators and 3 Infectious Disease Specialists. In the past 8 months the service has faced multiple needle-sticks, accounting for 70% of all staff members, including MOAs.
1- Create a Service personalized Incident Report, including all relevant data (date/time/affected personal/etc. Please review your student book.)
2- Once created, please complete one example with the following info: Last incident report: yesterday at 2:45 PM, Nurse Sponsa Verbi was changing patient Mary Truman, Bed # 401, an HIV Positive patient, when she experienced a needle stick in her right hand. She was evaluated by Dr. Joseph Kind and he ordered some blood tests and initiated PEP. Michelle Warr was the Supervisor when the incident occurred. Nurse Sponsa was sent home. Please include all the correct procedures that should be taken in case of an exposure.
