Before beginning to ride a dirt bike there are some key points that need to be addressed. A key essential for riding a dirt bike is proper clothing and protective equipment. When riding a dirt bike it is important to wear the proper safety equipment designed for motocross: a motocross helmet, boots and socks, pants, a jersey, gloves, goggles, a chest protector, knee and elbow pads, and knee braces. When picking a bike you will have to choose between a two-stroke engine and a four-stroke engine. Two-stroke engine bikes are typically fast lightweight bikes that have an intense kick to the motor. However two-stroke bikes are harder to control and makes learning more difficult for a beginner, they also require frequent shifting.
