Inspection and Testing is an important part of failure analysis of material. Suppose you are Inspection Engineer, how will you proceed for the Failure analysis of certain material/case study?

Inspection and testing is indeed an important part of failure analysis of materials, especially for an inspection engineer. Now in order to proceed successfully, the engineer must follow some procedure and a proper sequence with careful and keen behavior. If I am an inspection engineer, then I would follow following steps for the failure analysis of the material:
First of all, the most important thing is to a background study of the object or material under inspection. The composition of the material, mechanical properties, its environment of use, working conditions, operating limits, presence of flaws, reasons that caused the failure and then the investigation of

It must provide these following things [2]:
• Description of the failed component
• Conditions at the time of failure
• Background service history
• Mechanical and metallurgical data about the failed part
• Evaluation of the material quality
• Discussion of mechanisms that explain the root cause of the failure
• Recommendations for prevention of future failures or for action to be taken with similar parts

In short, being an inspection engineer, I must follow a certain procedure to form a failure analysis report and the procedure must be like that shown in the figure below:
