Organizational Impact Paper
Innovation is very important and plays a huge role in business. A business from top to bottom, must promote and encourage innovation and creative thinking. If the company does not continue to remain innovative and creative and come up with new designs then they will eventually get trampled by their competition and their business will crumble. Innovation, creativity and design are three things that must be considered by managers and also employees within every company. If innovation is managed properly a company can maintain their leadership role within their respective industries and hold on to their loyal customers while also creating new customers.
Nike
Nike was founded in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports and officially became the Nike Corporation as we know it today in 1971. Nike actually means victory in Greek, and they have been victorious since they started. Including their own Nike label, they have other 10 brand names that it operates under. Nike also sponsors many top shelf athletes. Nike is one of the biggest global manufacturing companies. They continue to innovate, create and design new products within their brands. Innovation is very essential to the growth of Nike Inc. Throughout the existence of Nike Incorporated they have purchased other existing companies and helped innovate their brand.
To remain ahead of their industry Nike needed to be innovative and creative new ideas or add new things to already existing ideas/products. Nike has recently teamed up with Apple to come out with Nike +, which is a product that is made within the shoe that monitors and tracks a runner’s performance and can like it to any other Apple device. This product is truly innovative and showed what Nike is all about. From then they continued to innovate and created a sports band that also tracks the distance of a runner but also can determine how many calories you have burned, keeps the time and also suggests new running programs. Nike has also used their creativity and innovation not only to manufacture shoes but to destroy them. In Nike’s Reuse-A-Shoe program, they collect old athletic shoes and recycles them and turn them into different types of sporting surfaces such as basketball courts and playgrounds. Nike is one of the top brands in the manufacturing industry and continues to be successful and ahead of their class by maintaining creativity and innovation within their company.
