My position is that immigrants should be allowed to stay here legally. Immigrants increase the diversity and open the culture in America. Illegal immigrants would bring about significant economic gains in terms of growth, earnings, tax revenues, and jobs. According to (Jason Furman) 2012 immigrants are 30 percent more likely to start a business in the United States than non-immigrants and 18% of small business are owned by immigrants. Letting immigrants stay here legally would give them a better opportunity for their education for kids. Immigrants being the United States could shrink the deficit by $197 billion over the next 10 years and $700 billion over the following decade. It could boost the trust fund used to finance Social Security by adding more workers who would contribute payroll taxes to its coffers. According to Academy of Sciences (2009) by the time an immigrant with a family dies his or her family will have paid $80,000 more in taxes than what they received in government benefits. They will spend their increased earnings on the purchase of food, clothing, housing, cars, and computers. Some immigrants are vital to certain industries such as farming, construction and the service sector. A 2007 report from the White House Council of Economic Advisers said that immigration as a whole increases the U.S. Gross Domestic Product by $37 billion each year because immigrants increase the size of the total labor force. Americans would earn an additional $791 billion in personal income over the same time period and the economy would create about 203,000 additional jobs per year. Within five years of immigrants being allowed to stay in America legally there income would be 15.1 percent higher, and because of that undocumented immigrants would pay an additional $109 billion in taxes over the next ten years.
