Bonus Activity In this lecture, we know three designers who are Maya Lin, I.M Pei and Douglas Cardinal. These designers’ styles are different, but they show their thinking very well at their works. Maya Lin is a designer from Vietnam. One of the famous works from her is the veteran’s memorial. The memorial is the experiences of sight, sound, and touch. You can see the all black rock of this work, you can hear the quiet sounds in this work, and you can touch the water at the water table, which is very nice. The second designer is I.M Pei who is from China. The famous work from him is the Bank of China in Hong Kong. Because he is Chinese, so he likes to use the Feng Shui to design the building. The Bank of China is at the middle of the business center of Hong Kong, and the sunshine is very well at this place. So he uses the Ying and Yang to design this building to let people feel the Bank of China is the heart of the Business center in Hong Kong. And the other buildings like East Wing National Gallery, Javits Convention Center, and National Center for Atmospheric Research Boulder are also show us that he like to use the Feng Shui to design the building. The final one is Douglas Cardinal who is from Canada. He was one of the Canadian who use the computer to assist in the design process. He love to use the Japanese style to design the building, and his design style is close to the natural, so he likes to use the natural resources to design the
