1- huck knows helping Jim escape is breaking the law but Jim is his friend. After thinking Huck decides to help Jim because he believes he will fell even worse if he turns Jim in
2-Tom’s romantic personality often has an influence on Huck’s decision making. Huck, being a realist, often has a more common sense approach to life. He is able to foresee the consequences of his actions unlike Tom. Yet, Tom counters this sensible view with his romanticism, which controls Huck. “Then Tom said he hadn’t got candles enough, and he would slip in the kitchen and get some more. I didn’t want him to try. I said Jim might wake up and come. But Tom wanted to resk it; so we slid in there and got three candles” (Twain 14). Here Tom has influence over Huck as he gets him to come along with him as they steal the candles. Huck is highly impressionable, and, in truth, he could even be considered a pushover. Tom’s influence is shown, as Huck didn’t want to follow through with this plan, but due to Tom’s infectious romanticism he steal the candles. It almost seems that when Tom is around him, Huck is not able to stand on his own and make his own decisions.
3- Twain tells Jims story through imagery, you can see Jim busting out crying, grabbing his daughter and regretting his actions. The imagery shows that Jim a slave has feelings too. Huck begins to see that even though he is a slave, Jim has strong family emotions too. Twain suggests that blacks are completely equal to whites and shows it thorugh jims emotions.
4-In the beginning of the book, Huck is wild and carefree, playing jokes and tricks on people and believing them all to be hilarious. By the time the book is almost over, people can see a drastic change in Huck's opinions, thoughts, and his views of "right and wrong". An example of this is when he tricks Jim into believing he was dreaming about the fog. When Jim says "en trash is what people is dat puts dirt on de head er dey fren's en makes 'em feel ashamed", (Pg. 105)This makes Huck feel bad enough to apoligize and he finally realizes that tricking Jim is wrong and that he has feelings.
