Chapter 1—Every Trip Is a Quest (Except When It’s Not)
The quest has 5 main aspects: The first one is the “quester”, the second is place to go, the third is the reason to go there, fourth is the obstacles to go through, and the fifth is the reason for going. An example would be Divergent, the quest to get to the erudite leader to stop the hypnosis.
Chapter 3—Nice to Eat You: Acts of Vampires
In a vampire story, the essentials are an evil character with not very good intentions. Ususally the innocent woman represents evil intentions and loss of innocence. The girl will lose innocence due to the vampire. The third twilight book contains perfect examples of this.
Chapter 8—Hanseldee and Greteldum
Leads to various twists and turns that keep the reader guessing, creating a deeper appreciation. For example, The hunger games: Catching fire.
Chapter 9—It’s Greek to Me
Medusa with hair so scaly,
She turns people to stone so fairly.
From flesh to brick,
Oh surely quick,
They shall forever stick.
Chapter 11—More Than It’s Gonna Hurt: Concerning Violence
Two types: One is due to actions of stories own characters. Second is due to natural causes, only author could have control over. In the hunger games, not freely, but they do purposely kill one another such as the first one. The second one pertains to illness such as incurable cancer like in The Fault In our stars.
Chapter 13—It’s All Political
Two factions: one more democratic and another being a dictatorship. Normally the dictatorship is always winning, almost always. Such as in Divergent, they thought abnegation was being too free giving to the factionless, and erudite wanted full power and control
Chapter 14—Yes, She’s a Christ Figure, Too
Always there for the well being of others, and is constantly tempted by evil in novels. An example would be Hazel from TFIOS, she is always there for friends and family but is tempted by death.
Chapter 16—It’s All About Sex /Chapter 17--…Except the Sex
In Allegiant, it begins to describe a loving moment, but never actually says if Tobias and Tris have
