“Boy Scouts to Continue Excluding Gay People”

If the title of this article doesn’t explain it well enough, then here is the big scoop. The boy scout troops do not put up with homosexuality in the boys or any of the parents. In 2000, there was a policy that was proposed. If that person is open about their sexual orientation, they won’t be allowed in that group. ”The official policy reads: “While the B.S.A. does not proactively inquire about the sexual orientation of employees, volunteers or members, we do not grant membership to individuals who are open or avowed homosexuals or who engage in behavior that would become a distraction to the mission of the B.S.A.”” (Eckholm) If you were to discriminate kids on their sexual orientation and kick them out of a club that is supposed to teach them the life skills and build them to be a man or woman just because they are gay, shows that they probably won’t be accepted in society. It also decreases their self-esteem and increases their chances of getting bullied in school. However, in 2010 they have been in the process of making a statement that forbids any troops to discriminate people on their sexual orientation. No one deserves to be discriminated against because of their sexual orientation. I think that the younger gets hassled more because of it and this article is a prime example of it. Maybe the child is not gay but if their parents are, then they will get treated the same as if they are gay themselves. They
