Cystic fibrosis:

Physical: The two organs most affected are the lungs and pancreas, where the thick mucus causes breathing and digestive problems. The thicker mucus has trouble moving out of the lungs, so bacteria can remain and cause infections, struggle to breathe may mean that you can’t take part in daily activities. You may also loss some self-confidence because you will experience bulky, light-coloured, foul-smelling bowel movements or diarrhoea (because food isn't being digested properly) also failure to gain weight, even though the child eats normal amounts. Intellectual: You might miss some of your education because you have to have Physiotherapy, so you take quite a lot of time off school. This can also affect you later on in life, as you have less knowledge and understanding of certain areas so it will be hard to get into some work sectors.

Emotionally: Having cystic fibrosis can be very difficult, however it may effect a teenager who is learning to grown up and facing life challenges, can make it harder as they are also coping with their condition also, and having to manage their treatments. Many teenagers who have cystic fibrosis may also be depressed for many reasons, feeling physically unwell, being frustrated, experiencing negative side effects from medications also missing major life events (sports, parties, concerts, proms), due to hospitalizations, and feeling different and left out from their peers.

Social: Children with cystic fibrosis tend to be less sociably and less outgoing compared to other healthy children, because they live with pain and physical restrictions, so they have problems trying to fit in with all the other kids because of their illness.

Foetal alcohol syndrome:

Physical: The physical effects that a child with foetal alcohol syndrome, can have brain damage, facial anomalies so they’ll have a smaller head and there height is quite small this is growth deficiencies. They’ll also have defects of the heart, kidneys and liver, may also develop visions and hearing problems.
