Briefly state the main idea of the article. The main idea of this article is to see the effects human beings have on earth and what nature is capable of when left unintended by humans.
List three important facts the author uses to support the main idea.
1. The author uses his visit to the Exclusion Zone to support his idea that nature will do just fine without human beings. He describes the zone so vividly. The rust on the ferris wheel , the abandoned apartment building and the growing of trees are some of the things described.
2. The tour guide asks the author that is about to take the tour to sign off that if his health begins to deterioate after visiting they will not be at fault. It was like visit at your own risk.
3. The author also tells of how a woman who is 78 years old lives all by herself. She holds on to the memories of before the accident changed everything.

The articles discusses the nuclear power plant accident at Chernobyl, Ukraine. The European population was exposed to ionizing radiation. Chapter 8 in the textbook also discusses this disaster on pages 186-187.
