The Holocaust When a person thinks of the holocaust, what do they think about? Is it the millions of Jews lives that were taken? Adolph Hitler, Auschwitz, and American involvement are some key roles in the holocaust. Adolph Hitler is probably one of the worst people ever to live. When people talk of evil deeds he is at the top of the list. He was a man of words, and could use them to his advantage. He had an ability to talk and make the Germans believe that the Jews were the reason for the problems in their country; so he gave them the idea to move them out. Then under his command they forced the Jews in to death camps. According to “An Introductory History” The Holocaust refers to a period of time between January 30, 1933 to May 8, 1945. When the war officially ended in Europe. During this time, Jews in Europe were subjected to progressively harsher persecution that ultimately led to the murder of 6,000,000 Jews and the destruction of 5,000 Jewish communities. These deaths represented two-thirds of European Jewry and one-third of all world Jewry. On January 30, 1933 Adolf Hitler who was already the leader of the National Socialist German Workers was named the chancellor of Germany by the president after the Nazis won a significant percentage of the vote. The Germans thought killing off the Jews would be a “final solution”. The Jews weren’t the only ones killed other people affected were the Gypsies. As the Nazi tyranny spread across Europe, the Germans and their collaborators killed millions of people. Between two and three million Soviet prisoners were murdered or died of starvation, disease, neglect, or maltreatment. The Germans targeted the non-Jewish Polish intelligentsia for killing, and deported millions of Polish and Soviet civilians. German police officials targeted thousands of political opponents and religious dissents. The two visuals I picked are similar in a few ways. The first similarities is they were taken in the same era. Both have to do with the Holocaust and Hitler. The picture of the two Jewish families and of Hitler are dark and filled with sadness. Both photos are taken before the war and before the Genocide. Some other similarities are that people are standing behind each other thru the whole thing. The differences of the two photos would be one is of the man that kills most of the people in the family photo. The family doesn’t know that Hitler is a bad man and is going kill most of their family during the genocide. The photo of Hitler is very serious and stern and the family photo is happy.
