In the story Macbeth by Shakespeare, Macbeth is violent and it’s by his environment. After he is told by the witches he is destined for power he says “Stop you’ve only told me half the story. Tell me more. I know I’m thane of Glamis, since Sinel, my father, died. But how can I be Thane of Cawdor?” He don’t feel as if this isn’t right and that it’s been prophesized and he must fulfil the prophecy set out by the witches. From my research others have conclude “Without the prophecy, even Lady Macbeth probably would not have thought of doing such a thing. It is not that the desire for Macbeth to become king would not have existed if the witches had not talked to Macbeth.” But
Nurture isn’t always the case of violence in the personality of people.
In the Beowulf, Grendel is violent by nature. In the story of Beowulf “So Hrothgar’s men lived happy in his hall till the monster stirred, that demon, that fiend, Grendel, who haunted the moors, the wild Marshes, and made his home in a hell not hell but earth” The demon Grendel was born of violence and he brings it to earth. According to others they feel as if the book illustrates this when it describes Grendel’s origin. “He was spawned in that slime, conceived by a pair of those monsters born of Cain.” Grendel’s hatred was passed on from his parents. This fact makes his hatred, in a sense, almost inherited or genetic. Grendel is violent by nature passed down from his parents and the parents of their parents.
