Course Description
This course is open to students in grades 9 – 12 that have prior approval from the instructor. Previous vocal/choral experience is not required for beginning chorus, but is for advanced chorus. The ability to match pitch is required for BOTH chorus classes. Instruction for the development of the following will be provided: energized, open and in-tune singing, diction and pronunciation of lyrics, notation reading, interpretation of musical style, ear training / aural recognition, ensemble performance skills (see below) and responsibilities, and vocal / choral music history, theory, & appreciation. Concert attendance will be mandatory, and is 5% of the final grade, 2 concerts=10%, etc. This is in addition to the actual test grade that the concert represents, so you can see how this adds up VERY quickly! Excused absences will only be awarded due to dire, documented emergency involving the student or the student’s immediate family. Remember, the others you have rehearsed with are counting on YOU to be there so they can gain the full performance experience! us Fall and Spring
