Evaluate the methods you used to ensure both the accuracy and the reliability of the data you collected in your investigation.

To ensure the data I collected was both reliable and accurate, I needed to use the right equipment to carry out the data collection. I knew this equipment was reliable because it had been used previously before in very similar investigations and had been previously tested. The pupils also needed to know how to use the equipment properly to its full potential. We ensured this was the case by practicing with the equipment before we went of to the Harlech sand dunes. For example, I did not know what and how to use a gun clinometer. But quickly learnt before we set off.
The ways in which a gun clinometer could go wrong and give of inaccurate and unreliable results is due to sand grains getting in it, this would cause friction as the wheel span and could give of inaccurate results. The ways in which you could solve this is by blowing on the wheel or checking to see if sand had got in the piece of equipment. The wind could also affect the reading that the gun clinometer would give off. Getting someone to stand in the way of the wind as a windbreak and shelter could solve this. Another variable that could affect the readings of the gun clinometer is the height of the person, for example if your are aiming the angle from your eyes to there eye sight, then the readings will not be accurate if the other person is smaller or taller that you. One way in which this can be solved is by having a partner the same height as you or use measuring poles to
