On a separate sheet of paper, describe how this scholarship will enable you to become self-supporting.
The Henry O. Peabody Scholarship would benefit me in numerous ways. A college education is expensive and with only one supporting parent, affording a college education is hard. My mother passed away when I was at the age of 13, losing her was the hardest obstacle that I have had to overcome in my life. Her death has taught me to never take anything or anyone in life for granted and has pushed me to do a lot in my life. This scholarship would grant me the ability to achieve one of my goals, graduating college. This school year I barely made it back to the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth due to financial issues. The Henry O. Peabody Scholarship would allow me to be confident that I will be able to finish my college education at my school of choice. It would help me afford a college education without having to take out a great amount of loans. I want my father to be assured that I will be able to finish my college education without having to worry about where I’ll get the funds to continue. This would push me to maintain my grades because I would not want to let down any organization who gave me money to assist with my college career. It would motivate me to make both my family and the organization proud.
