The Industrial Revolution was a time of drastic change from hand tools to manufactured machines used by kids in child labor which led to the rise of the Progressive Era. This substantial transformation help shape America to the nation it is today. There were a numerous amount of problems during this revolution beside child labor such as (disease that accounted for many deaths in industrial cities, working conditions, urbanization, public health, etc.). These problems lead to an unorganized nation and a lot of problems. The American
Civil War followed after the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution marks a major turning point in history, almost every aspect of daily life was influenced in some way. In particular, average income and population began to exhibit unprecedented sustained growth. The Industrial Revolution lead to poverty for so many workers because of the electronic machines which meant people weren't needed. Many families were homeless and poor. The Industrial Revolution was unbelievably well for the factories but terrible for the people. Child labor was involved during the Industrial Revolution and refers to the employment of children in any work that deprives children of their childhood or interferes with their ability to attend regular school. Young children working endured some of the harshest conditions. Workdays would often be 10 to 14 hours with minimal breaks during the shift. Factories employing children were often very dangerous places leading to injuries and even deaths. Machinery often ran so quickly that little fingers, arms, and legs could easily get caught. Beyond the equipment, the environment was a threat to children as well as factories put out fumes and toxins. When inhaled by children these most certainly could result in illness, chronic conditions, or disease. Child labor and working conditions were harsh things during the Industrial Revolution. During this time an American photographer Lewis Hine wanted to change the child labor laws and by doing that he would express it through his photos and how harsh it was. Marry Harris
