Management 521 was exactly what I needed to make my decision concrete concerning my career path. I have wanted to work in management for a couple of years but I was not sure if I would be a good fit for management. After taking this class Management 521 I feel confident that I would make a good honest manager. According to the text a manager is “Someone who coordinates and oversees the work of the people so that organizational goals can be accomplished” (Robbins and Coulter, 2010). Management 521 gave me the insight into the life of manager out work, from the team assignments teaching us to manage the control of a call center. To the individual assignments like the memorandum and the SWOT analysis. The information I received from this class will be invaluable when I enter in the work force as a manager. Based on my career interest profiler the number one career suggestion is Project Manager. With the experience and knowledge I have gained from taking this class I will be able to lead project teams with no problems. When studying the Contingency Theories of Leadership the one that fits the way I would like to manage is path goal theory. Path-goal theory is “a leadership theory that says the leader’s job is to assist followers in attaining their goals and to provide direction or support needed to ensure that their goals are compatible with the goals of the group or organization” (Robbins and Coulter, 2010). This method would allow for me to establish the appropriate path or journey for employees to be motivated, have a sense of fulfillment, and work environment satisfaction.
Excellent! The master’s program can be extremely beneficial if you can dedicate the needed time to your studies. Never look at your education and training as a ‘stovepipe’ but as an integrated activity that crosses all of the business boundaries – it’s about the integration. This first course applies to every functional area
