Hazardous materials 1. Asbestos is a set of six naturally occurring silicate minerals used commercially for their desirable physical properties. There are five materials in asbestos like amosite, crocidolite, tremolite, anthophyllite and actinolite. The use of asbestos is that Asbestos is strong, fire-resistant, flexible and a good thermal insulator. These qualities encouraged its use in a variety of products. It is used for thermal insulation, fire proofing, acoustic insulation, roofing, and flooring and in a variety of other building materials. 2. When left intact and undisturbed, asbestos containing materials do not pose a health risk to people working or living in buildings. Asbestos containing material is not generally considered to be harmful unless it is releasing dust or fibres into the air where they can be inhaled or ingested. 3. * Waste must be stored on the premises in an environmentally safe manner. * Bonded asbestos material must be securely packaged at all times. * Friable asbestos material must be kept in a sealed container. * Asbestos-contaminated soils must be wetted down. * All asbestos waste must be transported in a covered, leak-proof vehicle. * Asbestos waste must be disposed of at a landfill site that can lawfully receive this waste. * It is illegal to dispose of asbestos waste in domestic garbage bins. * It is also illegal to re-use, recycle or illegally dump asbestos products

When dealing with asbestos you have to wear a full body suit to cover you from head to toe because if asbestos get any wear on your body it can be very dangerous and could lead to cancer.

Significant exposure to any type of asbestos will increase the risk of lung cancer, mesothelioma and non-malignant lung and pleural disorders, including asbestosis, pleural plaques, pleural thickening, and pleural effusions.
