THE HISTORY OF THE GOSPEL OF MARK
The gospel of Mark is the 2nd book in the New Testament part of the bible. It is one of the four gospels. It is a wide spread thought that Mark wrote the gospel using the Simon peter's eyewitness accounts. This is because mark was only a young man during the life of jesus and was not a apostle.
The gospel has 16 chapters and out of the four gospels it is believed that mark was one of the first written, dated back all the way to mid 50's AD however some believe it was written in 70
AD.
Marks gospel was supposedly written by romans within Rome, but others say by Gentiles.
The purpose of the gospel is to present Jesus to gentiles and support and encourage believers to stay strong in times of persecution and even martyrdom
Mark focused on significant events of Jesus such as the crucifixion and his suffering, as well as many teachings.

THE PARABLE OF THE MUSTARD SEED
Mark 4:30-32
Explanation…. The purpose of the parable of the mustard seed is to teach a big idea or concept using an element such as plants and growth (mustard seed). The main picture portrayed by Jesus in the parable is that Jesus is of the humble start of the church experiencing the rapid growth. The church grows greatly and become a place of rest shelter and food, not only for believers but also for false professing individuals that want to take advantage of the house of God. Ultimately Jesus predicts that the growth is that of purity but also impurity

Quote : What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.” THE PARABLE OF THE GROWING SEED
Mark 4:26-29
Explanation… Similar to the parable of the sower, the good soil represents a receptive heart and the seed represents the word of God.
However, in this parable the three main points that create meaning are that we should be faithful in 'sowing the seed', praying for the harvest and leaving the rest to god. We cannot force a crop to grow, just as we cannot force spiritual life on others. Explanation… Similar to the parable of the sower, this parable focuses on the ‘good soil’ or a receptive heart, receiving the
‘seed’ or word of God.

Quote: “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground.
Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain— first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head.
As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.” THE LAMP ON A STAND
Mark 4: 21-25
Explanation… The lamp represents Jesus.
John says that Jesus is the light who is come into the world. When Jesus asks whether you put in under a bowl or bed, he is referring to whether Jesus is to be hidden, or whether
Jesus is to be shown and light up the world.
Evidently the purpose of a lamp is produce light, and that’s exactly what Jesus is doing.
