What ideas does the writer develop reguarding what is revealed through character’s response to hardship?--- Based on picture with man standing on street by a light, boat in the back ground.
It had been 6 years to this day since the last time I stood in this spot. Although this time around, it offered a much more chilling silence. There were no military officers, no men dressed in white protective suits, and most significantly no people at all. It was as if life never seized to exist in San Diego, but only if it was a figment of my own imagination. It seems strange to reminisce about the events that lead to the outbreak, considering the technology and other advancements that the world was privileged to during that time era. Scientist all over the world had everything they could wish for at their fingertips. And with that they raced to achieve what had never been achieved before, to fight cancer with cancer. Then finally, after cheating not only him into thinking he had the answer, but more importantly the world as we used to know it, Dr. Oswich released his cure.
I remember where I was. I remember when it was. And I remember who I was when the outbreak began. For those who had taken the precautionary vaccination to prevent any cases of possible cancer in the future which was the majority of people in San Diego, started to become overwhelmed with high fevers. Followed by the fevers were symptoms such as rashes on the back of the neck, blood exfoliating out from unusual places in the body, and the darkening of the sclera in the eye. The doctors had never seen such symptoms, and it wasn’t till that day 6 years ago darkness filled the city. I remember watching the TV that morning, unaware that I’d be the last time I’d ever get to watch such an accomplishment of mankind. A similar accomplishment to what I had thought Dr. Oswhichs’ had been. News channels everywhere were reporting footage of people attacking one another, but it didn’t stop there. There were actual accounts of people literally sinking their teeth into other peoples flesh. And when the number of these atrocities started to increase, that’s when pandemonium really began to sink in.
Fortunately for me, I was one of the lucky few who decided to stick nature’s natural course and dismiss Dr.Oswhichs’s vaccination. And as an award for my decision, I was allowed to board one of the ships that would transport me along with the rest of the unaffected out into international waters. There was no time to even think about the possibility that this could be a dream. Military personal, alongside the men in white safety suits were evacuating the apartment buildings near the docks in attempts to fill the last two remaining fleets. It happened so terrifyingly quick. Gunshots began to echo between the streets in which all the ruckus was occurring. I didn’t even have a chance to call my mom
