Go Ask Alice by Anonymous
“In the epilogue, we are told that Alice died three weeks later of an overdose—whether it was premeditated or accidental remains unclear—and that she was one of thousands of drug deaths that year.” (pg. 224) A young 15 year old girl had the perfect life. She had a family that loved her, a nice house, friends, and a boy to keep her company on the cold winter days. One day she lost that boy and she thought her life was ruined. She went into a depression and thought everything was over. Knowing what this book is about may cause you to think that this was the feather that broke the camel's back, this wasn’t though. She decided to make the best of it and try to be more social and find other fish in the sea. She became a social little butterfly and starting hanging out with a different group other than her own. She went to a sleepover one night and her drink was drugged. That night was the beginning of the disaster she called life. That amazing feeling she felt where colors exploded and smells flow and everything is just perfect. Nothing could hurt her and everything in the world flowed in such synch. That feeling she craved with a passion. She wanted it more than anything in the world and she would do anything to get that feeling.

Her and her boyfriend and her boyfriend’s friend and his girlfriend all lived together and all became close friends. “Alice” and the other girl in the house came home one day and found their boyfriends doing “sexual activities” to each other and out of rage they turned them in for being dealers and bailed to the city to start their new life. They dropped out of school, bought an apartment and with time they opened up their own boutique. Guilt finally overcame them around Christmas time and they moved back around Christmas time to be with their families who they missed dearly. “Alice” and her friend quit talking because she was a bad influence on her and she made the choice to turn her life around. She wanted to become a drug consultant and inform teens about the effects of drugs. She ended up going back to

In our initial papers (French & Raven, 1959; Raven, 1965), we first defined social influence as a change in the belief, attitude, or behavior of a person (the target of influence), which results from the action of another person (an influencing agent). Social power was…
