However, when I think of responsibility my mind reflects back to my family and the way I care for them. I am reminded of my duties as a mother and wife. I am also reminded of my everyday obligations that I take care of. It is in this way that personal responsibility relates to my degree and the completion of it. When I think of personal responsibility and how it relates to my degree, I think of hard work, dedication, and determination. In order for me to be successful in my studies, I have to take responsibility for my work and the progress that takes place weather positive or negative.
Personal responsibility is taking charge. It means that no matter what the outcome is, responsibility is taken. I realize that during my time at Phoenix, I am going to be faced with both positive and negative decisions. I know that I will be faced with the decision to complete a task or not do it all. I will be faced with doing my best or doing just enough to get by. I know that I will be faced with the decision to use my time wisely or to mess around and procrastinate with my work. When faced with these decisions I must take responsibility and make the right choice. Many people choose to let obstacles get in the way of their school work and this is a setup for failure. If getting a degree is truly important to an individual, he or she will make the necessary changes to make sure that nothing gets in the way. This is showing responsibility and putting the priorities in the right place.
Personal responsibility goes hand in hand with college success. There is no success without responsibility. Responsible students take all necessary steps to make sure that a passing grade is earned. Being responsible means completing homework assignments and turning them in on time. A responsible student plans ahead and looks for ways to get assignments turned in ahead of time so that time is not wasted. A responsible student knows that in order to have satisfying grades, he or she must put forth the effort to make sure that the right choices are made to get those grades. Success comes from responsibility. Knowing your priorities and prioritizing also plays a role with responsibility. In order to be successful you have to have your priorities in the right place and order. For example, you cannot put school work ahead of taking care of the family. If that happened things would not run smoothly. You also can’t put school work ahead of
