Of Giants and Dwarves

Since the beginning of sentience, the larger organism has been considered better. Larger often means more likely to win in a fight and therefore more likely to survive. Humans are no exception to this rule. Taller people are often considered better, even today. They seem prouder, stronger, more worthy of respect, seeing over the heads of the mortals they walk among. And it goes to their heads. They begin to think themselves superior. They sometimes use their height to bully and intimidate. But contrary to popular belief…bigger is not always better.
There are several advantages we hobbits have over our friends in the clouds. Firstly, and probably most significantly, tall people are fated to die sooner than their vertically challenged compatriots. They are more likely to contract heart disease and cancer, more likely to break bones during a fall, and more likely to sustain serious injury in car wrecks . Plus, they’re always hitting their heads on door frames, low ceilings, etc.
Short people also have many advantages in physicality. Smaller people have, on average, better mental reaction times and are able to accelerate their bodily movements more efficiently and with greater speed. They also tend to have denser muscle and are therefore often proportionally stronger. In consequence, we diminutive people are better adapted to be gymnasts, figure skaters, martial artists, boxers, long distance runners, etc.
Bigger people also consume more of
