January 20, 2013 “Those unable to catalog the past are doomed to repeat it” (Lemony Snicket). Snicket is saying that if we do not learn from our past, it is bound to happen again, but even if we do “catalog” our past it has a tendency of repeating itself. The Holocaust, genocide, was a horrific incident in Europe that the world says “never again” to. Genocide has been one of the events that have been repeated after the entire world said “never again.” We are all human beings who deserve to have these human rights, but we wont be able to resist such crimes until we join as one. To begin this we can take a step in the right direction, and that is to raise awareness towards genocide amongst our community and everyone around us. Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg was executed in a firing squad for resisting the Nazis and trying to overthrow Hitler. Stauffenberg could see through the Nazi propaganda and how they were treating the Jews in Europe. He attempted to go right to the source and eliminate the Nazi power because he knew the cruelty they were doing to the Jews and others. One should never have to stand up to such a horrific power alone, especially when there are others capable of assisting. Everyday on the Internet there is cyber-bullying happening and very few people step up and attempt to stop this. Cyber-bullying happens in the Internet where everyone can see it, but most of us don’t do much to defend those that are being hurt. I made the connections to the Holocaust; the Nazis were using propaganda, and verbal abuse to intimidate people, and brainwash them so they would not raise up in resistance to the violations of human rights. Something that always comes to mind is, why do people do that just to intimidate others? What can we do to stop this mistreatment of others? Problems like these can lead to worse situations, where it goes from just the Internet from just words to actions. For decades the Hutus and Tutsis hated each other. There would be verbal and sometimes physical abuse between the two tribes until it lead to attempt to make the Tutsi tribe become extinct. The cause for this genocide was driven by racial hatred for one another. One way that we can reduce the chances of genocide from uprising again is to educate the children in areas like Rwanda and Cambodia. Just how we

worst genocides the world has ever seen. Only three months into the massacres, over one million people had been killed. Paul Rusesabagina, a good man put in a very bad situation, is forced to make on the spot decisions that determine the lives of many. As the situation progresses, he becomes more and more aware of the horrors that human beings can inflict on one another, and he takes it upon himself to protect the lives of his family and the people taking shelter in the hotel. The genocide was an…

2013 In this writers opinion Lenn Goodman is right, there are certain things that are simply wrong. Seeking to control others through violence and or force is not right. Four areas Goodman touched on in his article, Some Moral Minima were (1) genocide, politically induced famine, and germ warfare; (2) terrorism, hostage taking, and child warriors; (3) slavery, polygamy, and incest; and (4) rape and female genital cutting (Goodman, 2010). All four areas do just that, try to control through violence…
Frederick Hall Colonial Genocide Conflict is an entity that appears in many different forms, each depending largely on the influential factors. The region of Sub-Saharan Africa is host to a long list of embedded strife. Most of these countries have been disjointed from the domineering rule of European colonialism. And although Rwanda’s bout with colonialism may have been short in duration (1890s-1960s), its impact on the subsequent political environment was significant. Some of these inherited…

and Biblical (Infanticide) Genocide and “The destruction was to be complete: every man, woman, and child was to be killed… the death of these children was actually their salvation…God does these children no wrong in taking their lives… So who is wronged? Ironically, I think the most difficult part of this whole debate is the apparent wrong done to the Israeli soldiers themselves.” [William L. Craig, Christian apologist].
