Many people believe that previous generation of Americans was completely different than the generation that lives now days. Ideology and interests have completely changed. For instance, we all know that previous generation cared a lot for peace in the world, human rights and equality of mankind. Martin Luther King, John. F. Kennedy and Malcolm X are people who fought for equality among people and most famous representatives of Generation X. But compared to the previous generation, my generation is completely different, and many people are having a debate whether it’s good or bad. Thomas Friedman in his essay “Generation Q” However, it’s not only about sports. It might happen to you in everyday life, for instance, dinner-table disputes end as quickly as someone can Google the answer. Since information is so readily accessible, technology has made us hide-bounded. Perhaps the most
Abdyrakhmanov3 memorable example of bad technology usage was the 2000 presidential election, when disputed ballots accrued in Florida and later the court upheld the voting because the technology was not able to read the intent of voters. Fishman emphasizes that in those cases the technology is not dangerous itself-for surely, we glad the technology’s brought fairness in sports, DNA base evidence, and, as the author mentions, new digital voting program-but the excessed consequences of those innovations (73-74). Two most important features of a successful essay are structure and word and example usage. As we might see by comparing these two essays Fishman’s work has stronger structure than Friedman’s. Readers can connect each point with the main idea throughout the reading and benefit from introduction paragraph and have a better understanding of the text in the later parts. Furthermore, Fishman points out that Friedman missed out some good reasons for the generation being quiet. As we have seen he provides three examples: usage of technology in sports, court system, and election
Generation Y Generation Y also known as the millennials are one of the most misunderstood generations to come. There are studies conducted on the millennials to try to better understand this generation of individuals to find out why they act the way they do. Many experts are blaming the parents because they are the ones who raised them into them to have such huge egos, and to be so overly confident in themselves. Studies show that the individuals in Generation Y are much more confident in themselves…

Y), which is also known as the Millennial Gen.,is the generation that I am part of, it includes people that were born approximately from the 1980’s to 2000. Narrative Difference between generation X and generation Y As we know, China was a very strong country which has five thousand years of culture traditions. But since 1661, the ancient civilization became a byword for isolation and stagnation of China. It has maintained two hundred years. And then, China was invaded by other countries. So China became weaker and weaker, and there are a lot of gaps of values between generation X and generation Y, such as their education and their hobbies…
affected me and this generation in many ways. Violence has affected the way we live, play, and learn. Violence runs our lives. It is not safe for us to go out and play until after sunset falls because the streets are so dangerous during night time. Kids or teenagers are unable to hang out and socialize like past generations did. Teenagers in the generation before us could play all day long without their parents worrying about the dangers they would be facing; but my generation can’t enjoy that kind…
While traveling on the highest plane of Kathleen Casey-Kirschling, born one second after midnight on 1 January 1946, officially became the first Baby Boomer to receive social security in October 2007 (Sandeen, C. 2008p. 15). This is my generation all be it I was born at the end of the time period identified with Baby Boomer. Baby Boomers were born between the years of 1946 to 1964. Boomers tend to value education and many have relied on educational attainment to support their high need…
culture I belong to is generation Y. Generation Y is people born 1981-2000. The co-culture I belong to is probably the skaters or band geeks. I like meeting people that are different than I am. For example, the people with all kinds of tattoos and piercings on their bodies look a little unapproachable at times but since I am willing to talk to anybody I have no problem with being uncomfortable. Cultures can make a difference in the way people think because people in my generation have been raised different…
There were times when people across all walks of life and generations spend quite some time walking together, which was good not only for the health but even for the society as this leads to so exchange of ideas, a sense of comfort, a re-assurance that they are so many more like me and if the need arises I can reach out to them. Most of do not even remember the last time we wrote a letter. It would not be an exaggeration if today’s generation tells us that they do not know how a letter looks like.…
carries, but there is still a market for the Generation X as well. With all the technology, Best Buy is trying to attract Generation Z. “Studies differ on the exact age range of Generation Z, but most agree they were born after 1990, which makes them the largest generational group in the U.S.” ("Millennials Are Old News — Here’s Everything You Should Know About Generation Z", 2014). This next generation coming up are the most technologically savvy generation because they have had computers from the…
One way for gen X and gen Y to bridge the generation gap and manage the conflicting needs of the different age groups in the classroom is for both groups to come to a mutual respect for each other. Everyone who is in the class is there with the same common goal, to learn. A key challenge would be to practice active listening. Although a Pro that comes out of the two generations working together in the classroom is that both parties can learn off of each other’s experiences in group discussions.…
Generation “Y” Generation Y also known as “the Millennials” were people born from the 1980’s to the early 2000’s. Anyone born during that time period may consider their selves part of the “Y Generation”. There are a lot of factors that have made generation Y the way they are today. Many people’s opinions may differ on why this generation is the way it is, but one thing they can all agree on is technology was involved one way or another. Generation Y might as well be known as generation internet…
