The conflict perspective is a theoretical framework that views society as an unequal system that brings about conflict and change. (Carl 14) Conflict theorist main concerns are the economic wealth and power. They look at how structures of the society and how they conflict with each other. Karl Marx who is the founder of the conflict theory. He wanted to understand and improve society for the best. He believed that society was unequal because of the wealthy and poor. He saw society as the bourgeoisie, who were wealthy because they controlled the businesses and the proletariat the poor working class of society. (Carl 14-15) He believed the workers did all the work and received nothing while the owners received it all. He wanted to believe that would rise up and unite to show the owners that if it wasn’t for them there would be no businesses. Marx in the end realized that the two classes of society were inevitable causing capitalism. Therefore, the conflict perspective show society having tension and some struggle between each group. The main idea is that there is always going to be some inequality and people with different interest in existing societies causing conflict to exist. The conflict perspective views society as different groups and different interests competing for power.
