What is Freedom? Living in Black Americas society, freedom is one on the number of issues that brings out much conflict. Of course freedom is a word which contains inbuilt restrictions. A free society contains individuals who are free to do what they do, whilst respecting the freedoms of others. Freedom can define as many other different definitions. Are we actually living in a society where freedom actually exists to the full extent? Most times we are limited to what freedom is actually are. To me freedom is the right to live how you want, regardless of the government; and I believe the government plays a big role as to how we are made to live rather than how we want to live. Freedom in America is an absolute right? We are born to become free. Freedom is defined from different aspects, and according to different cultures, freedom varies from culture to another. Freedom is a natural right that everyone being is born with. We are given freedom before we are given our name, so why is it limited? Everyone wants to be free and self-governing from others. Freedom is the right to do what one wants, live where we want, eat what we want, play where we wants, and chooses the religion in which we believes, without ignoring or harming other rights. The idea behind freedom is to be respectful and useful to our society. Freedom is important to everyone. When freedom is guaranteed, I can think freely, go where I want, say my opinion without fear from people who would not like my opinion. Freedom of opinion is among the most important branches of freedom. In some societies where freedom of opinion is not guaranteed by the authority, the creativity of mind is killed and buried. As I mentioned earlier, freedom is limited, and there are too many constraints on it. Firstly, the society rights including national security which is very important. Security is as important as freedom. Secondly, freedom of belief, to believe in what you want and chooses your righteous religion. Freedom in the United States is one of the main attractions. Freedom is what we sing about it in our patriotic songs. Freedom is what we were taught it in our adolescent school days. Here in the United States, freedom is the “civic religion”. But if freedom is our “civic religion”, why is the libertarian movement in the U.S. so small? Why are they making jails by the second? Why are government so big and our jails so full? Is all our talk of freedom mere lip service? Are does freedom really exists how it’s recorded? You can pull out a dictionary for a stilted definition; it will define as such; being able to do what you want to do. Free speech and hell free hot dogs on Sundays, both speak of freedom. Freedom I
