4/30/13 * Introduction
When the Founding Fathers created the American Republic they had a certain set of intentions for their newly founded country. Regretfully, throughout the history of our nation, those intentions have been greatly lost. What made America so great and set us apart from other nations was our written Constitution with its guarantee of personal, natural, liberties. Unfortunately, almost since the very beginning of the creation of our Republic, those elected to preserve the Constitution, started to dismantle it. The Liberty movement is a push to get America back to the Founding Fathers written Constitution and the greatness that we once were. Led by leaders such as Ron Paul, Andrew Napolitano, and the great economist Tom Woods, this movement has been sweeping the nation speaking with great volume to people’s hearts and minds. This movement is so expansive that it is impossible to explain it all right now. But in order to understand the fundamentals to this movement, you must understand some American history and then decide on where you believe our rights come from. Judge Andrew Napolitano is one of the biggest advocates for natural rights, and in his book, “A Nation of Sheep” he speaks about the history of America and the downfall of its founding principles. With his book and his speech, “The Constitution for dummies” I have been able to write a short timeline explaining the buildup to this movement and why Liberty movement advocates are now trying to get back the our founders intentions. * Thesis statement- History has built up to this movement and it shows why advocates are trying to get back the Founders intentions. * Stamp Act and Writs of Assistance Act- Reasons for which we broke away from England.
