“The Pittsburgh Steelers”

America is full of football fans, but being a Steelers fan is something special. No team means more to the city it represents. I grew up being a Steeler’s fan, and I would never change that. Been there in the good times, stayed in the bad times, and keep going on.
I first became a fan when I watched a game several years ago. Myron Cope created the Terrible Towel to excite the fans for a 1975 playoff football game against the Baltimore Colts. The Terrible Towel has endured and is one of the most recognizable collectible items in sports. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the towel benefits Allegheny Valley School in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers are the only team in the NFL to wear a logo on one only one side of the team’s helmets. The logo is based on U.S. Steel’s “Steelmark.” The logo was placed on the right side of the helmets as a test to see how it would look on the helmets. The result was so popular that it was decided to leave the helmets that way permanently.
While it’s easy to fault the Steelers offense for their early season failures, there’s plenty of blame to go around for the uncharacteristically bad beginning. Here are the main culprits.

Left tackle Mike Adams, a second-round pick from Ohio State in 2012, was absolutely abused by Vikings defensive end Jared Allen in Sunday’s game and has struggled so far in his tenure. An injury to guard Ramon Foster forced Kelvin Beachum into action at left guard in the second half, where Beachum went on to allow Everson Griffen to force a Ben Roethlisberger sack and fumble on a potential game-tying drive with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter. Let’s not forget the season-ending knee injury to Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey in Week 1, which was caused by right guard David DeCastro falling into him despite being untouched.

This could probably be filed as 1a under the offensive line, but injuries to second-round pick Le’Veon Bell and LaRod Stephens-Howling forced Issac Redman, Jonathan Dwyer and Felix Jones to carry the load in the team’s first three games. The result? 155 total rushing yards. Bell looked OK in his season debut Sunday but the team’s 77 yards on 21 carries still wasn’t enough to make an impact.
