The University seeks to offer staff alternative working patterns that will help them to strike a balance between paid work and personal life. While some roles within Faculties and Centres are less adaptable to the Flexible Working Time (FWT) System outlined below, the aims of the flexible working policy are to improve the working conditions of staff by better enabling them to combine their work and personal life and to improve the utilisation of staff and optimisation of physical resources.

Eligibility
Subject to the operational needs of the University to deliver lessons effectively and where Faculties choose to introduce the scheme, flexi-time is available to all academic staff apart from: • Administrative staff and casual workers • Staff whose contracts require the working of specific fixed hours (e.g. staff working shifts) • Academic staff with similar flexibilities within their contract
The normal working hours pattern for a full time member of staff is: Monday to Saturday: 8:00am to 10:00pm There is one unpaid hour for meal break each day. Week: 45 hours
