Goal:
Keeping park staff and visitors safe while on park grounds or in park facilities. The items brought up within this talk that call for further action and reporting are not meant to be a burden on the observer but an aid to all in the park to keep them safe.

*Situational Awareness: This is one of the most important things that can be stressed about any emergency whether it is fire, medical, or an environmental emergency. Knowing that there is a fire (emergency) is the most important, but it is also important to have knowledge of personnel in the facility, and where to go in the case of a fire then contact dispatch.
If you deem the fire approachable with a fire extinguisher, do so carefully. We all want to fight the dragon but it is important to know your limitations.

Evacuation & Contacting Authority’s: Depending on the structure there will be posted evacuation plans, in that case it is important to follow those quickly and calmly. If you are unfamiliar with the structure it is best to exit the way you entered. Contacting Emergency services can be done by calling (911) or Dispatch
Report the situation and specify clearly the location that the emergency is taking place. This means reporting the area in which you are working and the building number or location identifier.
