According to The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, (1978), “National Coalition Against Domestic Violence work to raise awareness about domestic violence; to educate and create programming and technical assistance, to assist the public in addressing the issue, and to support those impacted by domestic violence.” National Coalition Against Domestic Violence has worked to make every home a safe home. “Some of us think that the last significant act of autonomy and defiance by the first wave of the battered women’s movement was National Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s rejection of $600,000 grant because the Department of Justice would not permit reference to lesbian battering, and analysis of racism, or promotion of organizing.” (Pharr, 2008) National Coalition Against Domestic Violence is privately funded by several different sponsors. Theresa’s Fund provides funding, Valeant Pharmaceuticals North America, Cellular Recycler, “I Am Generess”, Face-to-Face Program, Mineral Fusion, Hopeline from Verizon, The Pixel Project, Bead Relief, sole9 Shoes, and Pura Vida. Theresa’s Fund offers free, searchable online database of domestic violence and hopes to be a major force in improving access to women that has been a victim of domestic violence. Valeant Pharmaceuticals North America LLC, teamed up with the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence in 2013 to bring awareness to domestic violence. Valeant helps by donating a portion of every sale to National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, they have given over $781,000 and have helped a total of 46, 540 women in domestic situations. National Coalition Against Domestic Violence partnered with Cellular Recycler, that donates a portion of money that come from the sale of refurbished phones. One of National Coalition Against Domestic Violence called “I Am Generess” that started in 2011 has since closed but during their time of funding the NCADV they donated a total of $368,912. Dr. Ben Talei and his brother Nathan who also helps support the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Dr. Talei raised awareness and money for National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Face-to-Face Program. They raised over $16,000, and they still continue to increase awareness for the NCADV. Mineral Fusion donates money and their product to the domestic violence shelters. Verizon Wireless Hopeline program connects victims of domestic violence to vital records, funds organizations nationwide, and protects the environment. Verizon Hopeline has collected over 10.8 million phones since 2001; they have donated over 180,000 phones to domestic violence victims and $21.4 million in cash grants. The Pixel Project has activists and volunteers that use the Internet to educate people about the issues with domestic violence. Bead Relief makes bracelets that are hand-crafted and donates 25% of the proceeds to National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Sole9 Shoes are shoes that give back and help clothe women that are in need of assistance. Pura Vide also sells hand-crafted bracelets to help raise money for domestic violence. National Coalition Against Domestic Violence gets a portion of the proceeds to help raise awareness of domestic violence. National Coalition Against Domestic Violence organization funding sources seem to be reliable. The sources of financing are all from businesses that have partnered with National Coalition Against Domestic Violence to raise the awareness of domestic violence. These sponsors have been around for years and have been dedicated to helping with shelters, clothing, and educating people on the importance of domestic violence.
