Final Thoughts on Biology Science and mathematics has never been my strong suit. Since I was a toddler I’ve always leaned more towards the arts and languages. But I’ve always been a firm believer in expanding your horizons with your education instead of narrowing them down. This was something I took into consideration when I first started hunting down colleges to apply to when I was seventeen years old.
I chose to come to Salem state for the same reason a lot of students complain about the school- there were several core courses that we were required to take in order to receive our diploma. I had no problems with any of the other required subjects but I was stuck in a rut with science. I registered for Geology and Weather and Science and lasted in each no more than a week before I decided to postpone the courses until my last year. After taking World of Cells last summer I felt like I found my niche in the science field.
Professors love to brag about how the material taught during their course is going to be used out in the real world at some point, so us students better pay attention. Aside from the courses in my major, I seriously doubted this until I took a biology course. Of all the sciences offered at Salem State, biology is the one that teaches us the most about the world that we live in, and how we interact (on a regular and not-so-regular basis) with all the other living creatures we share the planet with.
