The things that I have learned about diversity are very much what I did know before from school. Diversity is the state of being diverse; variety. Someone needs to understand that everything is not the same and that people are meant to be different and unique in their own way. Honestly I can relate to others in the form of them feeling out of place and not being given the chance to show what they can do. We need to learn how to work with each other better because we can always learn something new from each other. African Americans have been through a lot as a lot of other racial groups have. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. made sure he fought for their rights just as Rosa Parks did and they each made sure they fought for what they felt was right and if you look at our surroundings now compare to the 1950s there has been change.
Trends in immigration will continue to shape the demographics of the United States and I feel that in the year 2050 the population will get smaller because immigration is a harmful medication to everyone. People take things real serious and that can cause someone to hurt themselves because they feel that it is the only way they can be happy and not have to deal with the negativity that everyone else has of them. The United States faces a lot of differences because of the diversity of their people and that is that they can’t do a lot of things with other countries and it makes the United States seem like they are unable to get along with someone else because of the color of their skin. When you judge someone by the color of their skin you are only making yourself look bad and that is something that even in a work place they won’t tolerate because it is unacceptable and we have laws now that make sure no one is discriminated because of their gender, color, race and religion. We should be able to pick anywhere we want to work and who we want to socialize with and not have to worry about what others will think. I think the benefits of being a diverse society is that we are open to new cultures and that is something we all need because we might need what another has to help us in either our everyday lives or if we come in contact with someone who speak a different language. Diversity can be taken in two ways and that is how most things are. If we try new things we can actually help each other and understand what it means to work as a united team. Freedom is very important and we should enjoy it because unlike everyone in the 1950s we don’t have to struggle to do what we want, wear what we want or even speak tto who we want. The way that we can foster a climate of acceptance and cultural pluralism in the United States is by starting groups that will help us help each other and understand what the other side goes through. If we can’t get to the point where we can be there for one another then we need to honestly just let each other be and learn to live with the fact that people are going to be around of different racial groups and they have as much right as we do. The way that the media perpetuates stereotyping and prejudice is by making people believe that there is nothing serious and they ignore the fact that a lot of people are being judged or made fun of and it needs to come to an end. For example so many commercials about children being bullied and for what because it is still happening. If we don’t protect our loved ones who will?
