Daniel Goleman states that “the most effective leaders are alike in one crucial way: they all have a high degree of what has come to be known as emotional intelligence.” I completely agree because in order to be good leader, emotional intelligence is needed. Therefore the five components that are talked about in this article are important. These five components are self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills.
Self-awareness to me is understanding your emotions, needs, drives and using them to also understand others emotions to create something that everyone can be involved in. What comes with self-awareness is empathy, understanding others emotions teach you what they want, and this helps you because if you do something they like, they will want to be engaged more. Self-regulation is used to control your and to “think before acting” (Goleman) and people with self-regulation know how to control themselves and are reasonable. This creates a place where people could trust you and a place with fairness.
One of the most important components are motivation, motivation is needed to drive a person to make a change or to make a specific goal come true. I believe that a person who has motivation is a person who also has commitment and in order to get things done, they go through extent. This comes with social skills, managing relationships, knowing how to persuade someone. Social

I feel this is due to the Laissez-faire approach from my successor at the branch (Avoli & Bass (1990) describes Laissez-faire as an absence of leadership, with delayed decisions and an absence of rewards feedback and motivation). To affect change within the company we need someone who can join us and become a leader to the group. “Leadership is the art of influencing others to their maximum performance to accomplish any task, objective or project” (Cohen, 1990).
