George Washington farewell addressed laid the ground rules for a great and strong government to continue to be developed for years to come and by a new national leader Thomas Jefferson. Both gentlemen believe strongly in the need to have various parties in order to keep fair and unjust decisions being made by a single entity. It is obvious that George Washington has reached a point in his life where is done with politics and ready to retire from office. Jefferson was as edger to take office as was Washington to retire from office although maybe leaving doubt in the nation’s eyes that he was the right candidate to elect into office. In Jefferson’s inaugural address he stated “to declare a sincere consciousness that the task is above my talents, and that I approach it with those anxious and awful presentiments which the greatness of the charge and the weakness of my powers so justly inspire.” (Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson First Inaugural Address, https://bigbend.instructure.com/courses/810035/discussion_topics/1399088). Doubt? I don’t believe so, this just shows to the nation that he understands that his job will not be easy and he does not expect to be able to do it his self but with the help of the other men appointed into offices alongside him.
