Families are involved in their children’s learning through many different means. Parents are greeted by the kindergarten teachers at morning drop off and at the end of the day for dismissal and if any information needs to be disclosed or discussed the teachers and parents will take that opportunity to communicate with each other. Communication to families is also done through letters that go home whenever there is important information that needs to be shared. Getting families involved in their children’s learning both at school and at home is very beneficial not only for the children but for the parents as well. Children who are able to take their learning home and engage in it at home with their parents will benefit more from those who stop their learning at the school setting. Also, as a parent it is always important to be aware of and understand the material your children is learning at school. This way you are always on the same page with your children and can extend their school learning at home. It is important to know where your child is within their learning so you do not over challenge them with material they have not yet been exposed to or is too advanced for their age. "Every research study on parent involvement combined, over the past twenty years, show the same results. Parents involved in their child's education increases student achievement and self-esteem.
