10 Logical Fallacies

Straw man Fallacy: Misrepresenting someone’s argument so it is easier to attack. It is usually by exaggerating their statements as shown above. The guy with the glasses didn’t accomplish anything and used the “certification” as an excuse to not do anything.

Appeal to Emotion: Targeting emotion to manipulate a respond. In this example, it is using FEAR as an emotional response to make the reader forward the chain mail.

The Fallacy fallacy: Assuming that a claim that is poor argued is false. Making a false claim that is backed up by a logical coherency. He thinks he’s on a streak because he hasn’t shot himself.
Slippery Slope: “You said that if we allow A to happen, then Z will eventually happen too, therefore A should not happen” (yourlogicalfallacyis.com). Basically ignoring the issue but instead argue it with an extreme opinion without trying to prove it.

Ad Hominem: Attacking personal creditability or traits rather than their arguments. Insulting her face probably had nothing to do what they were talking about in the first place.

Tu Quoque: Answering criticism with criticism. The accuser in this example called pot smokers weaklings who cant handle life but he too isn’t showing a good example by drinking.

Special Pledging: Make up an excuse when claims prove to be false. Basically being stubborn and rather than being open minded about something, you’d rather cling to your old beliefs.
