Fahrenheit 451 Essay As the wall turn from black quickly to white, blindingly, they slowly turn into a moving image on 3 sides. Which turn into one big moving image. Five people appear to be standing in one room. Four of them from the existing program, and the other a good friend. It seems like he’s only standing ten feet away and within arm’s reach, yet he is really more than ten miles away standing in his own set of parlor walls. Once those walls turn on they let go of reality and the existing world outside those walls. These Parlor walls depicted by Ray Bradbury in 1951 are very similar to the large flat screen televisions seen today as well as many other items that seem to resemble objects within the book. The main resemblances that are shown in Fahrenheit 451 with today have to do with entertainment. For example the Parlor walls in Montag’s house bear a striking resemblance to the large screen televisions seen in today’s society. Television is one of the most commonly used sources of entertainment in the 21st century. A ridiculous percent every household in the United States contains a television. The Parlor walls are also emphasized by Mildred that there common as well. “It’s so much fun. It’ll be even more fun when we can afford to have a fourth wall installed.” This shows how common it must be for people not to only just have a television wall, but multiple walls. Not only does Mildred have cool TVs for walls. She has these cool “little seashells, the thimble radios tamped tight, and an electronic ocean of sound, of music and talk and music and talk coming in”. These prophetic gadgets are striking-lee similar to the common ear buds found tangled up in every music lover’s pocket. Both in-ear sound devices used to listen to music. Ear buds and headphones alike also contain microphones as well, giving the user the option to talk on the phone using the ear buds. Bradbury also mentioned of the small fuzzed up sound other people can hear coming from the ear buds. “little mosquito-delicate dancing hum in the air, the electrical murmur of a hidden wasp snug in its special pink warm nest. The music was almost loud enough so he could follow the tune”. Also staying into the category of entertainment, the news broadcasted live and exciting events. Such as the chasing of Montag, and the false catching of him. Today we sometimes see live helicopter overages of exciting events like a police car chase, or the chasing of the Boston Bombers. These are all just simple forms of entertainment that Ray Bradbury predicted within his novel Fahrenheit 451. Within the first twenty pages of the book Mildred over dosed on sleeping pills. When Montag called the hospital and the Paramedics came to help Mildred they used these two familiar sounding machines. “one of them slid down into your stomach like a black
