Expirement 6: Acid Bases and Salts
General Chemistry Lab 1101-37 – Fall 2014

Objective:
The purpose of this expirement is to become familiar with difference between acids and bases. Acids and bases can be indicated through the pH level in each substance. The procedure also observes the relativity of common salts. With this expirement, through observation the chemical equation can be noted.

Data Sheet:
2. Explain how changes in CH3COOH concentration affect the reaction rate with Mg.

The higher the concentration the quicker the reaction will occur.
B. Basic and Basic Solutions: Started with NaOH (base) anded HCl (acid) after 9 drops it became acidic Litmus Paper: was red, colorless Phenothalein: Acid (colorless)
