My name is Mandos Gibson. My day would have been just normal, except that I was to close the office for that first time. I had been scared of the fact of being alone. I had been told to take it easy that day, and not to worry, everything will be OK. Which is why it was astounding that day when I was greeted by Death.
It was painful. It felt like I was being burned at the stake! It raged through every part of my body. The last thing I remembered was darkness. That was all I saw, darkness everywhere. I screamed from pain. And died.
Darkness scares us. We yearn for the comfort of light as it provides shape and form, allowing us to recognize to define what's before us. But what is it we're afraid of really? Not the darkness itself, but the truth we know hides within.
The office was full of chatter, all talking about the recent event. I was laid to rest on a Monday morning. After the funeral most of my friends gathered to have something to eat. Two days after my funeral, people started to let go.
An odd thing happens when we die, our senses vanish. Taste, touch, smell and sound all become a distant memory. But our sight, ah, our sight expands. And we can suddenly see the world we left behind so clearly. I was standing in heaven when,

Mandos, I am Death, I was ordered by god to take you on a journey to meet him. As you, Mandos, have become too absorbed in material wealth and riches to follow Him. He feels taken for granted; because He receives no appreciation from mankind for all that He has given them.

Upon hearing this, became distressed and curious. My curiosity has been brewing under the surface, boiling like vegetables in a pressure cooker. Getting so hot sometimes, I thought his skin would break. But every time I thought it would, someone released the valve just enough to stop it from exploding.
After I died, I began to surrender the parts of myself that were no longer necessary. My desires, beliefs, ambitions and doubts were all discarded. I discovered when moving through eternity it helps to travel lightly. In fact I held onto only one thing my memory. Death allowed me to take a companion on my journey to meet God. Fellowship (my friend) promises to go anywhere with me. However, when Fellowship hears of the true nature of my journey, he refuses to go, saying that he would stay with me to enjoy life but will not accompany him on a journey to death.

Mandos then call on Cousin, who represent family, and asks him to go with her. Cousin refuses outright, by making excuses. Mandos realizes that she has put much love in material Goods, so Goods will surely come with her on her journey with Death. But Goods will not come, saying that since Mandos was so devoted to gathering Goods during her life, but never shared them with the less fortunate; Goods' presence would only make God's judgment of Mandos more severe.
They say let he who is without sin cast the first stone. And to be without sin requires absolute forgiveness. But when your memories are freshly opened wounds, forgiveness is the most unnatural of human emotions. Mandos then turns to Good Deeds. Good Deeds says she would go with her, but she is too weak as Mandos has not loved her in her life.
Good Deeds summons her sister Knowledge to accompany them, and together they go to see Confession. In the presence of Confession, Mandos begs God for forgiveness and repents her sins. Confession declares that Mandos is absolved of her sins, and as a result, Good Deeds becomes strong enough to accompany Mandos on her journey with Death.
