Current American History Events

• Students will find an article from a newspaper or online source. The article should deal with a current American Historical Event, find an article about something that has happened within the last six months, the topic of the article must have American Historical Significance. There’s plenty going on.

• You are required to summarize the article in two paragraphs (who, what, where, when, why). Do not take bulk sentences or phrases from the article, that is plagiarism. You must read the article, understand the topic, and explain the topic of the article in your own words.

• Write your opinion of the topic in two paragraphs or more. What do you think of the topic? Do you think things could’ve/should’ve been handled differently? How do you feel about the outcome of the event? How does this topic make you feel? What does this topic make you think? What predictions could you make about the future of this topic?

• How does this event relate to the topics we have discussed in class thus far? OR Howdoes this topic relate to you in your life (One Paragraph)

• Online sources should be from a reputable source, for example nytimes.com, cnn.com, pbs.org, washingtonpost.com understand? National news sources, not random online articles.

• You will be randomly called on to present your article.

• You must bring in the article or provide the full web address of the website you retrieved the article from. Typed 12 pt font Times New Roman
