Euthanasia The purpose of this essay is to address the topic of euthanasia and if it should be permitted in cases of terminally ill patients. Euthanasia is when an ill person that can not be cured wishes to die with compassion to prevent that person from suffering. My key research points would be the meaning to the different types of euthanasia why people are disagree or agree with it, and examples of patients that want euthanasia and why. I hope to find information that agrees that euthanasia should be allowed and legalized. Some major issues with this topic may be not finding enough information to reach the minimum amount of words or putting too much voice obtaining more towards one side.
Currently there are three different forms of euthanasia they are passive active and physician-assisted suicide. Passive euthanasia is when people let nature take its course and dies from natural causes. Examples of this are when someone stops taking medication or turning off respirators. Active euthanasia is when the terminally ill patient requests to die and the doctor help them with that request. Physician-assisted suicide is when a physician gives the patent information on how to commit suicide. People that agree with this method of death argue that it is beneficent and a compassionate act. They do not want to see their loved ones or others in general in pain and suffering. Citizens that disagree with this mainly base their decisions on religious beliefs and not wanting their loved ones to leave them behind and having to live without them. They also believe that if this was legalized that physicians may kill without permission from the patient. Some patients that request this want to die with dignity. Also they do not want to live the last of their life’s in severe pain or bankrupt their families.
