Abstract!
This!report!is!written!to!identify!protruding!European!issues!in!Lincolnshire!and!
provide! potential! recommendations! to! Greater! Lincolnshire! Local! Enterprises!
Partnership! for! spatial! planning! and! economic! development! over! the! coming! years.!By!comparing!the!situation!and!issues!in!Europe!and!Lincolnshire,!it!can! be! found! the! specific! issues! and! challenges! facing! Lincolnshire! show! both! similarity!and!difference!with!whole!European!issues.!From!economic!aspect,!the! major! problems! in! Lincolnshire! are! the! relatively! low! skill! and! low! wage! economy! and! increased! populations! reaching! retirement! age.! The! main! challenges!in!social!aspect!reflect!in!the!increasing!growing!and!aging!population,! the! poor! accessibility! and! inefficient! public! transport.! Moreover,! compared! to! the! significant! influence! of! climate! change! to! European! environment,!
Lincolnshire!has!relatively!clean!environment.!Therefore,!recommendations!will!
be! put! forward! to! address! these! identified! issues,! including! supporting! the! existing! agricultural! industries! and! promoting! innovation,! establishing! an! efficient! transport! network,! protecting! existing! agricultural! lands! and! wetlands! and!so!on,!in!order!to!make!a!sustainable!development!in!Lincolnshire.! !

1.!Introduction!
This! report! is! written! to! Greater! Lincolnshire! Local! Enterprises! Partnership!
(LEP),! which! aimed! at! giving! recommendations! for! the! spatial! panning! and! economic!development!of!the!area!concerned!over!the!coming!year.!It!is!mainly! divided! into! four! parts,! and! each! part! will! be! illustrated! from! three! aspects! –! economy,! society! and! environment.! Firstly,! the! existing! European! trends! and! issues! will! be! elaborated.! Then,! specific! European! issues! and! challenges! facing!
Lincolnshire!will!be!identified.!In!addition,!by!discussing!the!significant!ongoing!
EU!policies,!it!will!provide!several!recommendations!that!address!the!European! issues! identified! in! Lincolnshire! and! constitute! the! ‘European! context’! for! the! county,! which! will! promote! the! spatial! planning! and! economic! development! in! future.! !
