What are the positive aspects of stereotypes, if any?

Stereotypes can be positive or negative. An example of a positive stereotype is “All blondes are beautiful”. A positive aspect of this stereotype is that it can literally increase the self confidence of a blond person. A higher level of self confidence will help push somebody through life a little easier.

What are the negative aspects of stereotypes?

Negative stereotypes can lower the self confidence of a person. For example, the statement “All blondes are dumb and stupid” can lead somebody into thinking that they are stupid an lower their self confidence. Lower self confidence through live can lead to higher stress levels and higer stress levels can lead to depression.
