The Difference between Movie Theaters and Movies at Home
The lights are dimming and the trailers are just about to end; you quickly try and get into the most comfortable position in your seat before the movie starts. This setting sounds like you are at the movie theaters and the movie is just about to begin; however, you are not at the movie theaters, but at home. Home movie theater experience can be just as much fun as actually going to the movie theaters because it has a little to no cost and added features that would benefit you, such as more control of lighting, food choices, more comfortable seating, and people’s safety.
One factor you will want to keep in mind when considering staying in or going out to the movies is the logistics. For example, would you rather be in the comforts of your own home or in a place that is unfamiliar and maybe even a little scary? In my opinion, I think a movie at home would be a whole lot safer. The reason behind it is because at home all of your friends are gathered in a safe environment and not spread out all over the place; moreover, you also know where everyone is at the same time when watching your movie. On the other hand, when you try and get a group of people to go to the movies, there are always complications. Such as some people might not have a way to get to the movie theaters, or they might show up late and the movie already started. Staying in and watching a movie is just easier to plan than going out to the movie theaters.
Equally as important as logistics is the environment factor when choosing movie theaters versus movies at home. Unlike at home, movie theaters do not provide pillows and blankets to make you more comfortable. The chairs at the movie theaters are so awkward and lumpy. You are unable to get comfortable while sitting in them, and also the seats squeak every time you try and reposition yourself. That is not the way to enjoy a movie in my opinion. Additionally, at home you have more control of your air conditioning, lighting, and sound. At the movie theaters they are always extremely cold inside and there is nothing you can do about it, except hope that you brought a jacket to keep you warm. However, at home you can set your air conditioning to whatever temperature as you please, or you can grab some pillows and blankets and snuggle up on the couch. One more thing is at the movies the lighting and the sounds are too extreme. Meaning that it is extremely dark in the theater to the point where you cannot see where you are walking, and the sound is way too loud because when you walk out your ears are still ringing from the movie. However, when watching a movie at home, you are able to control the lighting and the sound. For example if the sound is too loud you are able to lower it, and if the room is to dark, you can flip on a light and dim it so you are able to see where you are walking.
Another aspect to keep in mind when deciding on where to watch a movie is the cost. Because the tickets are getting more and more expensive as the years go by. People may not have enough money to purchase a movie ticket, which can cost a good twelve to fifteen dollars. If you want to get food, then you need to have enough money to buy that
